The 2-door Rubicon is 72.3 in (1,840 mm) high while the standard models are 70.9 in (1,800 mm). The 4-door is 73.9 in (1,880 mm) wide while the 2-door is 73.7 in (1,870 mm). The length is 173.4 in (4,400 mm) for the 4-door and 152.8 in (3,880 mm) for the 2-door.

The wheelbase is 116 in (2,900 mm) for the 4-door and 95.4 in (2,420 mm) for the 2-door. The available transmissions are 6-speed Chrysler NSG370 manual, 5-speed W5A580 automatic (2012-Present) and 4-speed Ultradrive 42RLE automatic. The engine options are 3.6L Pentastar V6 and 3.8 L EGH V6.

The 2007 model is a total redesign of the Wrangler line. The JK platform was developed to take the place of the TJ. It is significantly larger than its predecessors.

Most notable are its 3.4-inch (86 mm) wider track and wheelbase which is 2 inches (51 mm) longer. However, the 2-door model is 2.5 inches (64 mm) shorter compared to the previous version. This is true regardless of the truck bed dimensions for a Jeep Wrangler.

The headlamps were also redesigned so they resemble the classic CJ. Right hand versions of the truck were also made available in several countries. In many cases only those with auto transmissions are available.
