At third place is Lake Superior, also of the US and Canada. It has an area of 82,414 km2 (31,820 sq mi. The lake is 616 km (383 mi) long and with a maximum depth of 406 m (1,332 ft). The water volume is 12,100 km3 (2,900 cu mi).

Number four in the world’s biggest lake list is Victoria Lake (Uganda). The total area is 69,485 km2 (26,828 sq mi). The lake is 322 km (200 mi) long and can reach a depth of 84 m (276 ft). The water volume is 2,750 km3 (660 cu mi).

Lake Tanganyika (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia) is at number five. The total area is 32,893 km2 (12,700 sq mi). The lake is 676 km (420 mi) long. The deepest part is 1,470 m (4,820 ft). The water volume has been estimated at 18,900 km3 (4,500 cu mi).

At number six is Russia’s Lake Baikal. It spans an area of 31,500 km2 (12,200 sq mi). It is 636 km (395 mi) long and 1,637 m (5,371 ft) deep. The water volume is 23,600 km3 (5,700 cu mi).

At number seven is the Great Bear Lake of Canada. It has an area of 31,080 km2 (12,000 sq mi). The lake is 373 km (232 mi) long. The lake has a maximum depth of 446 m (1,463 ft). The water volume is 2,236 km3 (536 cu mi).

Number eight in the list of the world’s biggest lake is Malawi (30,044 km2 (11,600 sq mi). It is 579 km (360 mi) long and 706 m (2,316 ft) deep. The volume is 8,400 km3 (2,000 cu mi.

Number nine is Great Slave Lake with an area of 28,930 km2 (11,170 sq mi). The length is 480 km (300 mi). The maximum depth is 614 m (2,014 ft). The water volume is 2,090 km3 (500 cu mi).
