Ball Valve Flange Dimensions

Ball valve flange dimensions measure 6 x 3 x 2 inches, 4 x 3 x 2 inches, 4 x 2 x 2 inches and so on. These are devices used for blocking fluids from flowing through equipment (i.e. a pipe).

Types

Three kinds are available: the full port, standard port and reduced port. However, all valves have a handle. This is used for moving the ball that closes or opens a spherical hole. Each valve comes in different styles. They are welded, top entry, split body, three-piece body and single body.

Standard Port Ball Valve Features

These traditional ports have a regular sized ball. It is typically a size smaller compared to the pipe which it is connected to. This valve is used to limit the fluid that goes from one of the pipe’s sides to the other. Their turn radius is either 360 or 80 degrees. This is used when fluids have to be reduced a bit. This type is prone to wear and tear due to increased friction.

Full Port Ball Valve Features

This valve does not have any restrictions when it comes to liquids flowing through pipes. These valves are large so fluids can flow completely in a pipe. Its design also reduces friction. The turn radius is either 360 or 90 degrees. This type is more costly than others due to their dimensions. These are usually made of metal or plastic. The majority of these valves are built with a ceramic center.

What is a Reduced Port Ball Valve?

As the name suggests, it is a valve with a small hole. Its purpose is to control the fluid that goes at one side of the pipe to the other side. The dimensions of the hole are set according to the fluid reduction required.

Other Information

The difference between a full-port and a standard valve is the dimensions of the ball. Another difference is the bore size as it corresponds with the valve’s nominal pipe size. For instance, the bore dimensions of a 3/4-inch full-port are 3/4 inches in diameter.

The bore in a traditional ball is half an inch in diameter. Their sizes are proportional to the dimensions of the bore. The size of a full port is the same as a pipe size.

Ball valve flange dimensions are just one aspect you have to consider. There is also the matter of flow coefficient. This determines the resistance of a fluid system to flow.
