Worlds Biggest Providers

The following is a list of the world’s biggest providers of telecommunications (telecom). The rankings are based on the number of subscribers. 
 
The Top Ten 
 
Number one is China Mobile with 564.356 million subscribers. Its main market is China. At second place is Vodafone with 427.99 million subscribers. Majority of them are in the United Kingdom. 
 
Telefonica / Movistar / O2 is at number three. It has about 278 million subscribers. Its main market is Spain. At number four is Claro / America Movil. The company has currently 215.06 million subscribers. Its main subscriber base is in Mexico. 
 
Bharti Airtel is at number five with 200 million subscribers. Most of its subscribers are in India. Norway’s Telenor is at the sixth spot with 184.00 million subscribers. Orange of France is number 7 among the world’s biggest providers in telecom. It has a total of 182 million subscribers. 
 
T-Mobile is at the eighth slot with 150.90 million subscribers. TeliaSonera of Sweden is the ninth biggest with 143.9 million subscribers. Its main market is in Sweden. The tenth spot is held by China Unicom with 139.962 million subscribers. 
 
Number 11 to 25
 
MTN Group is at number 11 with 137.47 million subscribers. Its main market is South Africa. The 12th spot is held by Orascom Telecom / WIND. Its main market is in Egypt. It has 127.39 million total subscribers. 
 
Etisalat is at thirteenth place with more than 120 million subscribers. Reliance Communications is at number 14 with 110.8 million subscribers. Reliance Communication and Etisalat’s main market is the UAE. At number 15 is MTS. Its total subscribers are 102.01 million. 
 
The USA’s Verizon Wireless is at number 16. The company has 93.2 million subscribers. At 17th place is another American company, AT&T Mobility with 92.8 million subscribers. Russia’s VimpelCom is at 18th place. Its subscribers number 89.40 million. 
 
At 19th place is Telkomsel of Indonesia. It has 88.32 subscribers. BSNL of India is at the 20th spot with 81.00 million subscribers. 
 
At number 21 is Telecom Italia / TIM of Italy with 71.50 million subscribers. Axiata Group Berhad of Malaysia is at 22nd place with 72.7 million subscribers. Turkcell of Turkey is at 23rd place with 61.9 subscribers. 
 
Number 24 among the world’s biggest providers is Qtel of Qatar. It has 63.53 million subscribers. Tata Teleservices is at number 25 with 62.51 million subscribers. Note that all these figures are subject to change.
