Size of a Radiator

Radiators vary in style and design. Over time, radiators have grown in complexity and their sizes have changed.

Radiator Dimensions: Northern All Pro 29" X 19"

This radiator has an overall width of 29 inches and the overall height is 19 inches. The core height is 17 ¼ inches and the core width is 24 ¼ inches. The overall thickness is 3 ¼ inches. The core thickness is at 2 ¼ inches.

The inlet diameter is 1 ¼ inches and the outlet diameter measures 1 ½ inches. The auto trans oil cooler is at the left side. The mount type is a saddle. The drain is at the left tank at the bottom. Weld on flanges are optional.

Radiator Dimensions: Northern All Pro 31 1/2" X 18 3/8"

The core width is 27 inches and the core height is 17 3/8 inches. The height is 18 3/8 inches and the width is 31 ½ inches. The mount type of this all aluminum radiator is a saddle. The auto trans oil cooler is situated to the right. The radiator’s thickness overall is 3 ¼ inches while the core is 2 ¼ inches thick.

The outlet diameter measures 1 ½ inches and the inlet diameter measures 1 ¼ and 1 ½ inches. The drain is located at the bottom right tank. There are also weld flanges for this radiator.

It uses stiffening channels to fortify the tanks and also uses the Ultra Duty air cooler. It works for both manual and automatic transmissions.

Radiator Dimensions: Race Pro 21 5/8" X 19 5/8"

The overall width and height are 21 5/8 inches and 19 5/8 inches respectively. The overall thickness is 3 ¼ inches. The core width is 17 inches; the core height is 18 1/8 inches and the core thickness is 2 ¼ inches. The outlet diameter is 1 ¾ inches (45 degrees).

The mount type is saddle. There is no auto trans cooler for this radiator. This unit is intended for use on modified cooling systems. It also works with high pressure late models. The radiator also has side channels and mounting flanges to strengthen it. The design allows it to be mounted virtually anywhere.

Radiator Dimensions: Race Pro 25 3/8" X 19 1/2"

The overall width is 25 3/8 inches; the overall thickness is 3 ¼ and the height is 19 ½ inches. The core dimensions are 21 x 18 1/8 x 2 ¼ (width by height by thickness). The inlet diameter is 1 ½ inches and the outlet diameter is 1 ¾ inches (45 degrees). This one also does not have an auto trans oil cooler. The mount type is also saddle.

Choosing a Radiator

There are many types, from universal fit in to those made for specific models. Whichever you chose, be certain the specifications are correct. Poorly built radiators won’t last long and could have disastrous consequences for the system.
