The most expensive diamond in the world is the Cullinan diamond. Part of the Crown jewels of the British Empire, its value has been put at $400 million. It is also the biggest rough diamond ever found. It has been cut into several pieces, each one also worth millions. The following is a list of other prized diamonds. 

 

 

This is a 45.52 carat (9.10 g) diamond. It is currently in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington. To the naked eye, the diamond has a bluish tint. This is brought about by the presence of boron. 

 

When exposed to ultraviolet light, it appears reddish. It is one of the most famous diamonds in the world, owing to its reputation as being cursed.

 

 

Third in the list of the most expensive diamonds, it has a weight of 273.85 carat (54. 77 g). It is the third biggest diamond from Premiere Mine. The Gemological Institute of America rates it a level D. This is the highest rating possible. It is noted for being 

flawless, internally and externally. 

 

 

This 24.78-carat diamond was sold in a 2010 Sotheby’s auction to a Mr. Graff, hence the name. Its previous owner is the famous jeweler Harry Winston. Pink diamonds are rare enough, but those that weigh over 20 carats are extremely hard to find. 

 

 

This diamond weighs 59.60 carat (11.92 grams). The Gemological Institute of America classifies its color as Fancy Pink, which is extremely rare. The diamond is so rare that experts needed 20 months to carefully cut the diamond. It was first displayed in public on 

May 29, 2003 in Monaco.

 

 

This 35.56-carat blue diamond was found in India. It was selected by King Philip IV of Spain for the dowry of his daughter. Her future husband, Leopold I, would rule the Holy Roman Empire. The diamond would later be christened the “Der Blaue Wittelsbacher” (The Blue Wittelsbach). The diamond was sold to Lawrence Graff in 2008.

 

 

This diamond weighs 27.64 carats (5.528 g). It has an intense blue color and is owned by the De Beers Group.
