Standard Print Ad Sizes
If you’re thinking of placing an ad in the papers, magazine or any other publication; the first thing to consider is the size of your print ad. This will help you come-up with a design lay-out that will fit into the specifications of the ad size.
While different publications may have different specifications for their print ad space, it will help to know the standard measurements of these ads so you can at least have an idea of how big or small the ads usually are.
Standard Print Ad Sizes
Broadsheets
Full Page – 10.5 inches in width by 21 inches in height; 10.5 inches wide is about equal to the size of 6 columns
Half Page: Horizontal – 10.5 inches or 6 columns wide by 10.5 inches high
Half Page: Vertical – 5.164 inches or 3 columns in width by 21 inches in height
One-Third Page – 6.942 or 4 columns wide by 10.5 inches high
One-Third Page: Vertical – 3.386 inches or 2 columns wide by 21 inches high
One-Third Page: Horizontal – 10.5 inches or 6 columns in width by 7 inches in height
One-Fourth Page: Horizontal – 10.5 inches or 6 columns wide by 5.25 inches high
One-Fourth Page: Vertical – 5.164 inches or 3 columns in width by 10.5 inches in height
One –Eighth Page – 5.164 inches or 3 columns in width by 5.25 inches in height
One-Ninth Page – 3.386 inches or 2 columns wide by 7 inches high
One-Twelfth Page – 3.386 inches or columns in width by 5.25 inches in height
One-Fourteenth Page – 10.5 inches or 6 columns wide by 1.5 inches high
One-Eighteenth Page – 3.386 inches or 2 columns wide by 3.5 inches high

Full Page – 10.5 inches wide by 10.5 inches high
Two-Thirds Page: Horizontal – 10.5 inches or 6 columns wide by 7 inches high
Two-Thirds Page: Vertical – 6.492 inches or 4 columns wide by 10.5 inches high
Half Page: Vertical – 5.164 inches or 3 columns wide by 10.5 inches high
Half Page: Horizontal – 10.5 inches or 6 columns wide by 5.25 inches high
One-Third Page – 5.164 inches or 3 columns wide 7 inches high
One-Fourth Page – 5.164inches or 3 columns wide by 5.25 inches high

Note: Measurements for both broadsheet and tabloid print ads are approximate values only. You are advised to check with your preferred publication for their exact print ad dimensions.
Measurements also do not include bleed area which is about one-eighth of an inch each for the width and height per ad size.
