How big is a T-Rex Footprint

The size of a T Rex footprint is 1.55 feet (46 cm). Its feet actually measures 3.3 feet (1 m) long. Tyrannosaurus Rex walked using its toes.

Physical Traits and Characteristics of T Rex

The T Rex had a stride of 12 to 15 feet (3.7-4.6 m). The creature could reach speeds of 24 km/h or 15 mph. The largest T Rex species could reach lengths of 40 feet (12.4 m) and heights of 15 to 20 feet (4.6 to 6 m). The forearms however, were only 3 feet (1 m) long. The average weight of the T Rex is 5 to 7 tons.

The skull is 5 feet (1.5 m) long. The eye sockets are 4 inches (10.2 cm). This size means the eyeballs were 7.6 cm / 3 inches in diameter.

Jaws, Teeth and Skin

The size of a T Rex footprint is hardly indicative of the size of its jaws. The jaws are 4 feet (1.2 m) long. It had 50 to 60 teeth. Conical in shape, they ranged in size from the very small to the large.

Some of its teeth were 9 inches (23 cm) long. Some T Rex species have 13 inch (33 cm) long teeth. This enabled the T Rex to chew over 500 lbs (230 kg) of bones and meat.

Recovered T Rex remains indicate the skin was scaly and rough. Some researchers describe it as being pebbled and akin to alligator skin.

Distribution and Habitat

Majority of the remains have been found in Canada, the US and Mongolia. It probably lived in the forests where it could prey on
plant eating dinosaurs.

Other Information

The T Rex’s brain size is similar to that of a gorilla. There is a dedicated portion for color processing. The brain also had features that handled visual data.

The T Rex’s tail was pointed and stiff. It was used mainly for balancing. Without the tail, T Rex would have a hard time keeping upright owing to its large head. The tail also helped it perform rapid turns.

It should be noted that T Rex was not the biggest meat eating dinosaur. Other species like Carcharodontosaurus and Giganotosaurus carolinii are larger.

The size of a T Rex footprint as given here is not indicative of the other possible sizes. It is very possible that much larger specimens are still waiting to be discovered. It should also be emphasized that the speed as determined by scientists is much slower than what is shown in films.
