Corset Sizes

The corset sizes used in the United States, the UK andCorset Sizes Europe differ. To avoid confusion, use the following information as a guide. Always keep in mind that manufacturers may use different measuring systems.

Comparing Corset Measurements

In the US, the common waist sizes used are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16. The UK equivalents are 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20, respectively. For Europe it is 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46 and 48. These sizes are used to determine the bust size, the natural waist and the hips size for corsets.

Corset Sizes in the US (in inches)

For size 2, the bust is 30 in, the waist 22 in and the hips, 30. For size 4, the measurements are: bust 32, waist 24 and hips 32; for size 6, the measurements are: bust, 34, waist 26 and hips 34. Size 8 figures are bust 36, waist 28 and hips 36.

For size 10: bust 38, waist 30 and hips 38. For size 12: bust 40, waist 32, and hips 40. For size 18, the measurements are bust 42, waist 34 and hips 42. For size 20, the bust is 44, the waist 36 and the hips 44.

Corset Sizes in the UK (in cm)

Measurements in the UK may be done via centimeters. The specs for size 6 are: bust 76.2 cm, waist 55.9 cm and hips 76.2 cm. For size 8 it is bust 81.3, waist 61 and hips 81.3. Size 10 specs are: bust 86.4, waist 66 and hips 86.4.

For size 14, it is bust 96.5, waist 76.2 and hips 96.5; size 16 (bust 101.6, waist 81.3 and hips 101.6). For size 16, it is bust 106.7, waist 86.4 and hips 106.7. For size 20: bust 111.6, waist 91.5 and hips 111.6.

Corset Sizes in Europe (in cm)

For size 34, the bust size is 76.2, the waist 55.9 and the hips 76.2. For size 36, the specs are 81.3 for the bust, 61 for the waist and 81.3 for the hips. For size 38, the measurements are: bust 86.4, waist 66 and hips 86.4. A size 40 usually means the bust is 91.5; the waist is 71.1 and the hips 91.5.

The other sizes are 42 (bust 96.5, waist 76.2 and hips 96.5); size 44 (bust 101.6, waist 81.3 and hips 101.6); size 46 (bust 106.7, waist 86.4 and hips 106.7), and size 48 (bust 111.6, waist 91.5 and hips 111.6).

Variations

Some manufacturers use different measuring systems. The sizes may come in small (US 8, UK 10), medium (US 10, UK 12), and large (US 12, UK 14). The bust is always measured at its widest. The hips are gauged from the widest area as well. As a rule, the cup will go up the bigger the corset is. This isn?t always the case though.

When choosing a bust size, remember that the ideal corset size is usually two inches smaller than your waist. You can always ask the manufacturer for more information.
