Biggest Resort

The world’s biggest resort is the Genting Resort in the Genting Highlands of Malaysia. The site covers 10,000 acres. The Durrat Al Bahrain in Bahrain should surpass it in size, but it is still under heavy construction.

Overview of the Genting Resort

The fastest way to get into the site is by helicopter. The resort is situated at a mountain peak in the Titiwangsa Mountains. This is between the Selangor and Pahang states in Malaysia. It is an hour away from Kuala Lumpur. The Genting Skyway can also bring you there.

Hotels

The world’s biggest resort opened in 1971. Since then, it has gone on to become one of the most popular holiday destinations in Malaysia. The resort currently has six hotels: First World Hotel, Theme Park Hotel, Resort Hotel, Highlands Hotel, Maxims Hotel and Genting Hotel.

There are also a couple of apartment blocks in the site. There are numerous indoor and outdoor parks and gaming facilities. The place is informally known as the Las Vegas of Malaysia.

The resort has the only legal land-based casino in Malaysia, Casino de Genting. The First World Hotel is the biggest in the world with 6,228 rooms.

Dining and Nightlife

The resort has several dining options. The VIP Restaurant specializes in Thai-Chinese cuisine, while the Olive specializes in fine Western dining. Its other restaurants include Ming Ren, Imperial Rama, Hainan Kitchen and Genting Palace Restaurant.

The Coffee Terrace serves Western and Asian buffet. The Bakery sells desserts, pastries and sandwiches. Nightlife attractions include the Patio Bar & Lounge, the All Sports Bar, Cloud 9 and Safari.

Theme Parks

There are three theme parks in the resort: the Water Park, First World Indoor Theme Park and Genting Outdoor Theme Park. There are 20 major attractions including Space Shot, SnowWorld, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, the Haunted House, the Genting Sky Venture and the Flying Coaster.

Convention Centers

The Genting International Convention Center (GICC) is made up of Grand Ballroom and half a dozen meeting rooms at the first tower. There are also a dozen meeting rooms at the second tower block.

These facilities have VIP / media reception rooms, business centers and a pre-function foyer. There are also several performance venues at the site.

The world’s biggest resort also has a huge column-free hall. The seating can hold up to 4,200 in theatre-style or 2,000 banquet-styles. The whole section can be divided into four parts based on the client’s requirements.
