The United States of America located in North America is considered as the most powerful country in the world. On a global scale, it has the biggest economy; with a total GDP estimate of about $14.256 trillion as of 2009.

It also has a powerful army equipped with the most-advanced artillery; and it has a strong media influence worldwide.

It is likewise top in diplomatic and foreign relations, greatly influencing world politics.

The United States of America, otherwise known as USA or the US, has a total area of 3,794,101 square miles or about 9,826,675 square kilometers; it belongs to the top 5 largest countries in the world by total area.

It has a population of approximately 3.9 million people, with a population density of about 33.7 per square kilometer or 87.4 for every square mile.

Economy

The country is the largest importer of consumer goods worldwide and comes in third as the largest exporter in the world. Although it suffered the devastating effects of recession experienced on a world scale, the rate of employment in the country is still among the highest in the world.

Its low unemployment rate, low inflation rate and increased productivity contribute to its global standing as the largest economy in the world.

Scientific and Technological Advancements

The US has always been a leader in the field of Science and Technology with innovations dating as far back as the 19th century. A good number of inventors are from the United States.

Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the technology behind the telephone, was given patent for his invention back in 1876. Among these inventors are also Thomas Edison, who invented the light bulb; and Nikola Tesla who invented the AC motor and the radio.

But the most remarkable and memorable scientific and technological advancement that the US is known for is sending the very first man on the moon back in 1969, in the person of Buzz Aldrin.

The country’s scientific research and studies are also the leading papers in the world.
