How Big is a 2 Quart Pan

In cooking, there are dishes that require specific pan sizes so you can get the right consistency as well as to enable you to cook the dish through and through – meaning, no part will either be overcooked or undercooked.

This is especially true in baking. If you use the wrong pan size for the amount of ingredients that you have prepared, your cake or any other dish might turn out to be a disaster.

This being said, it is important that you know the dimensions of each pan so you will know what to look for when shopping for the appropriate pan your dish requires.

How Big is a 2-Quart Pan?

If you’re thinking of cooking a mean casserole and your recipe requires you to use a 2-quart pan, this would basically be around 10 inches in height, 8.8 inches in width and 5.3 inches in diameter and will weigh approximately 4 pounds – for a round casserole dish pan.

For a round, elongated 2-quart casserole dish pan, dimensions for this would approximately be about 13.8 inches in height, 7.8 inches in width and 2 inches in depth; and will weigh around 2 pounds.

These dimensions may of course vary depending on the manufacturer of your preferred 2-quart dish pan.

Now if you’re looking for a 2-quart saucepan, dimensions for this would be around 3.7 inches in height, 6.3 inches in width and 6.3 inches in diameter. A stainless steel saucepan of this size would weigh somewhere around 4.3 pounds.

Substituting Quart Pans

On the other hand, if you do not have a 2-quart casserole dish pan; you may use your regular baking pan. For a 2-quart casserole dish, substitute the required casserole pan for an 8-inch by 8-inch square baking pan.

You may also use a nine by nine by one and one-half inches baking dish or a twelve by seven and one-half by two inches baking dish.

You may also use the following baking pans for specific quart-sized casserole dishes:

– For a one and one-half quarts casserole, substitute the required casserole pan for a loaf pan with dimensions of nine inches by five inches by three inches.

– For two and one-half quarts of casserole, you can use a nine-inch baking pan that is square in shape.

– For three quarts of casserole, substitute your casserole pan for a baking pan with dimensions of thirteen inches by nine inches by two inches.

– For a four-quart casserole, you can use a baking pan that measures approximately fourteen inches by ten inches by two inches.
