General Information

The plane was built by Gulfstream Aerospace. Development began in 2005 and was publicly announced in 2008. It is Gulfstream Aerospace’s largest and fastest private jet.

Development and Design

The G650 has many features. it includes a kitchen and a bar. The plane also has several entertainment features. Some of the highlights include wireless Internet and satellite phones.

In spite of its features, the jet weighs less than 45,360 kg (100,000 lbs). This allows the Gulfstream G650 to use smaller airports and avoid the congested ones.

The aircraft has an oval fuselage. Compared to the standard circular cross-section, the oval shape helps with internal volume use. The fuselage is made of metal.

Composite material is utilized for the cabin floor structure, engine cowlings and rear pressure bulkhead. The same materials are used for the winglets and empennage. The cabin is 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) high and 8 feet 6 inches wide.

The fastest private airplane had its maiden flight on November 25, 2009. The company also reported that the plane hit Mach 0.995 during the flight tests. Over 1,500 hour flight tests were done before 2008 ended.
