How to Measure Dress Sizes Correctly

Step 1

Wear a bra. Put the measuring tape below your bust. Record the number. Include 5 inches to the number you obtain.

Step 2

Measure the chest at the bust line’s fullest point. Keep the tape horizontal. Your arms must be kept down. Deduct the bra size off the bust line. The result is the cup size.

Step 3

Put the tape measure on the waistline (this is the waist’s thinnest portion over the hip bones).

Step 4

Get your hip measurement at the hips’ fullest portion. This is about 7 to 9 inches below the waist.

Step 5

Put your arm on the sides. Put the measuring tape to the back of your neck. Measure on the arm’s back to the wrist’s bend. This is the sleeve length.

Even though these are the standard dress sizes, some brands have their own measurements. Make sure that you know what measurements the dress is using before you buy it. This will determine whether the dress fits or not.
