which can be played by two opposing individuals for singles or by two opposing pairs for doubles. Before, it was referred to as squash racquets in reference to its parent game called racquets. Aside from the different interesting aspects of the game, it is nice to know the different squash court dimensions.
The Dimensions of a Squash Court
In the latter parts of the 1920s, the organizers of the game codified the standard size of the international or softball court, which took place in the City of London in England. They came up with a length of 32 feet or 9.75 meters and a width measuring 21 feet or 6.4 meters. The front wall features an out line, which stands 15 feet or 4.57 meters high.
Aside from this, you can also find a raking out line that meets the back wall out line, the standard measurement of which is 7 feet or 2.13 meters above the ground. The service line can also be found at the front wall, which measures 6 feet or 1.83 meters above the ground. In addition, it features a tin that serves as a net, which is set 15 inches or 38 centimeters high.
For games played under U.S. rules, the traditional American court is used. Today, this kind of game is called hardball squash. The size of the court is similar. However, it is narrower, which only measures 18 feet and 6 inches or 5.64 meters. At the same time, the tin is lower, which only stands 15 inches or 38 centimeters high. Sadly, this squash variation died out in America when it was replaced by softball.
A racquetball court that is converted to squash is often referred to as a converted court. A racquetball court usually measures 40 feet or 12.2 meters long and 20 feet or 6.1 meters wide. When installed with a back wall, you can easily come up with a squash court that is 32 feet or 9.75 meters long and 20 feet or 6.1 meters wide.
