Trailer Axle Dimensions
Knowing the trailer axle dimensions and how to measure them is necessary so
you can get the appropriate one. Although there are different types of axles, the measuring process is essentially the same.
Required Tools and Materials
Lug wrench
Measuring tape
Helper
Step 1
Jack the trailer up and take off the tires.
Step 2
Ask your helper to hold the measuring tape to the hub front. This would be the area where the wheel is set against. Measure the distance from one hub face to the other. The figure you get is the track width.
Step 3
To get the other trailer axle dimensions, ask your assistant to put the measuring tape at the middle of one of the spring mounting pads. Look at the figure at the middle line of the other pad. This will be the spring distance. The spring distance and track width measurements are needed if you’re going to purchase new trailers.
Step 4
Take the measurement from the spindle center line to the middle line of the axle tube. This is how you get the axle drop. While you’re at it, check the position of the spring pad below or above the axle.
What to Look for When Buying Axles
Along with the trailer axle dimensions, you’ll also have to consider the following specs. The first is load capacity. The load rating needs to support the maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVW).
If you have multiple axle trailers, divide the gross vehicle weight by the axles. The result is the load capacity (minimum) for every axle. The other vital specs are track length, the spring centers and overall length (from spindle to spindle).
Axle Types
These include straight axles, which can be square or round, torsion axles and drop axles with offset spindles.

Car Bumper Dimensions
The bumper is one of the most important parts of a car, which can be
found at the rear-most and front-most parts. It helps the vehicle sustain tremendous impact while preventing the safety systems from being damaged. However, it can reduce the injury of passengers especially during high-speed impacts. It can somehow lessen the injury that pedestrians can suffer after being hit by a car. In addition to these facts, it is also interesting to find out the car bumper dimensions.
Dimensions of a Car Bumper
In terms of height, the bumper of a passenger car must not go beyond the range of 41 to 51 centimeters or 16 to 20 inches. This standard rule applies to all cars although the actual sizes of their bumpers vary. The use of bumpers in a car is a legal requirement in most jurisdictions. It is important to abide by this rule so as not to cause bad outcomes in case accidents happen.
Additional Facts and Other Interesting Details
The United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the very first regulation applicable to the use of car bumpers in the country in 1971. It was called Exterior Protection, which was part of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 215.
The United States Congress signed the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Saving Act (MVICS) in October 1972. Under this rule, the NHTSA was required to release a standard for bumpers that would reduce the cost of consumers. Amongst the factors that were considered include the savings in consumer time, implementation of benefits and costs as well as the effect of the standard on legal fees and costs.
In March 1976, the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 215 were merged with the important requirements of MVICS. The new and improved standard was included in the United States Code of Federal Regulations. In May 1982, the NHTSA implemented the amendments to the bumper standard.
The bumper standards in Canada and the United States were implemented at the same time. Their regulations were very much similar. The automobile industry in North America called for stronger Canadian-specification bumpers. The regulations of Canada were changed in the early parts of 2009 in accordance with the international ECE regulations as well as the federal standards of the United States.
In order to comply with the standards for bumpers in the 1970s and the early parts of the 1980s, car bumpers were made heavy, massive and bulky. By the closing parts of the 1980s, a painted thermoplastic fascia was used to conceal bumpers.

Shock Breaker Dimensions
This information is about the Enertrols shock breakers.
These do not necessarily match the figures of other companies. Also keep in mind that there are many types of shock breakers and absorbers, each with their own characteristics.
Basic Factors
When figuring out shock breaker sizes, you must assess how much energy is dispersed for each cycle. The second is the amount of energy dispelled in a 60 minute operation. The application’s effective weight must be assessed also.
Kinetic Energy
The formula for determining the kinetic energy for every cycle is KE=½MV2. Remember that a moving object will be composed of inertia or inertia plus a driving force.
Effective Weight
The effective weight is crucial for getting the shock breaker correct. The general rule is this: if the impact velocities are under 1 ft/sec, choose the next highest bore size.
This is also the rule if the propelling / driving force (F x S) is beyond ½ of the E3 value (where E3 is the total energy per cycle). If you’re not sure of the shock breaker size, you must consult the shock breaker / absorber manufacturer for more information.
High and Low Effective Weight
High effective weight produces high set downforce towards the shock breaker stroke. The low effective weights generate the impact forces at the start of the stroke.
Energy Capacity of Full Threaded Body Shock Absorbers
The specs for adjustable full threaded models are the following. For model SA they are: bore: ¼ inches; stroke: ½ inches; max in/lbs cycle: 150; effective weight lbs /min/max: 5-400 lbs / 2.3-182 Kg; max in / lbs / hour 400,000 lbs; max strength: 750 lbs.
The shock breaker size and specs for model SALD are as follows: bore: 3/8 in; stroke: 1 in; maximum inch/lbs/cycle: 600 in.-lbs; effective weight lbs. min/max: 10-1,200 lbs; maximum inch-lbs/hour: 600,000 lbs; mounting strength: 1,500 lbs.
Non Adjustable Full Body Types
For the SNALD UNF Series 25 the stroke is ¼ inches; effective weight lbs: 4-12; the maximum energy capacity is 25 lbs per cycle / 750 lbs per hour. The 75 series specs are: stroke: 3/8 in; effective weight lbs: 2-36; maximum energy capacity: 75 lbs per cycle / 250,000 lbs per hour.
The specifications for the 150 are: stroke: ½ inches; effective weight lbs: 2-22; maximum energy capacity: 150 lbs per cycle / 300,000 lbs per hour.
Other Shock Breaker Sizes and Specifications
For the SNALD UNF Series 225, the stroke is ½ in; effective weight lbs: 5-55; maximum energy capacity: 225 lbs per cycle / 400,000 lbs per hour. For the 450 series, the stroke is 1 inch; effective weight lbs: 5-35; maximum energy capacity: 450 lbs per cycle / 600,000 lbs per hour.
The specs for the 600H2 are the following: stroke: 1 inch; effective weight lbs: 880-5000; maximum energy capacity: 600 lbs per cycle / 600,000 lbs per hour. These are just some of the Enertrol models; there are many more with different specifications.
Shock breaker sizes often require complex calculations to figure the one you need. Choosing the wrong one can lead to greater risks, so consulting a professional may be necessary.
Reflective Vest Dimensions
Police officers and traffic enforcers commonly wear a
reflective vest so that people can easily see them at night and during bad weather. The vest varies in styles and colors. Some of the most popular colors of the garment are neon yellow, neon orange and neon green. Those who work in construction and industrial sites also wear this garment for protection and safety. Most manufacturers produce the same size and dimensions of the vest. This article highlights the most common reflective vest dimensions available in the commercial market today.
The Dimensions of Reflective Vests
What are the reflective vest dimensions? The width of the garment measures 17 inches while the height measures 23 inches. The vest has vertical vinyl strips that run from back to front measures an inch. The seam binding of the vest that can be seen on the edges of the garment measures ¼ inch. The closure on the front measures 1.5 inches x 2 inches. The front flaps of the vest have a length of an inch and a width of 8 inches.
Additional Information and Other Important Details
Most reflective vests are made from polyester. Instead of hook and loop, other manufacturers of the vest use zipper or reflective tape. Some manufacturers allow customers to customize the vest. They can print texts on the garment. Aside from screen printing, manufacturers also offer woven label stitching and heat transfer printing.
There are several reasons why people use this type of vest. The main reason for using this vest is to allow the wearer to be more visible. This type of vest is categorized into three. The first category includes vests that offer minimal amount of reflective as well as bright material. The second and third categories are the highly visible vests, which use high amount of bright material.
Some of the benefits that people get from this vest include minimal traffic fatalities, especially in construction areas. In some countries, the national government extends the use of the vests to media professionals. However, even if there are regulations about the professionals who should wear the vests, others also wear the garment for their safety. Some people who wear reflective vests are sports enthusiasts like cyclists as well as joggers. In some regions of the world, hunters wear the vests so that the other hunters can see them.
The usual price of the vest is around $5 to $10. However, consumers can get discounts if they will purchase the garment in bulk.
Dimensions of a Parking Space
A parking space is commonly found within a parking lot or a parking garage.
Of course, it can also be found along a city street as well as many other places that are designated for the primary purpose of parking vehicles. Each space is usually marked with three lines, one on the right, the other on the left and another line at the top. White paint is commonly used to mark these lines. Parking spaces may be arranged with an angle, perpendicularly or in a parallel manner. Aside from these interesting facts, it is also good to know the dimensions of a parking space.
The Different Sizes of Parking Spaces
The average size of a parking space is 320 square feet or 30 square meters. However, there are also other sizes available, one of the most common of which is 270 square feet or 25 square meters. These sizes include the landscaping or end of aisle areas, the circulation areas and the parking space. For perpendicular or angled parking spaces, the length is commonly 16 feet to 18 feet or 4.9 meters to 5.5 meters. Meanwhile, the standard width is 7.9 feet to 9 feet or 2.4 meters to 2.75 meters. Some other versions of this type of parking space measure between 7.5 feet and 10 feet or 2.3 meters and 3.2 meters.
For parallel parking spaces, the standard width is 7.9 feet or 2.4 meters while the standard length is 20 feet or 6.1 meters. They are usually marked 6.9 feet to 7.9 feet or 2.1 meters to 2.4 meters wide. Inclusive of the entry and exit maneuvering, the standard length ranges from 22 feet to 26 feet or 6.7 meters to 7.9 meters.
Additional Facts and Other Interesting Details
In the United States, details about curb markings are specified in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Some local highway agencies use special colors for such purposes. The main reason behind this is to supplement the standard signs for the overall improvement of parking regulation.
The state of California uses different kinds of colors for this particular purpose. For passenger drop off or pickup, the usual color is white. For parking spaces that are limited by time, the designated color is green. For loading, the assigned color is yellow. For disabled individuals using proper vehicle identification, the appropriate color is blue. For emergency vehicles, the red curb means no parking, no standing and no stopping. To indicate a no parking zone, the curb is commonly marked yellow.
